Manufacturing Job Growth in Delaware

Delaware Online reports that “after years of steady declines, employment in Delaware’s manufacturing sector appears to be on the rebound, following two consecutive years of steady growth. The state is on pace to reach 28,000 manufacturing jobs this year, a number not seen since the early days of the Great Recession in 2009. That’s still about 20 percent fewer jobs in the sector than a decade ago, but the trend is at least moving in a positive direction…”

Part of the increase in manufacturing jobs comes from a “rebranding of sorts” — manufacturing jobs used to be viewed in a negative light, but now are a great career option for Delaware job seekers. The President of DelTech explained “Today, we have witnessed a transition in manufacturing from dark, dirty and dangerous to clean, high-tech, high-quality jobs that continue to provide for Delaware families.”

The State of Delaware remains focused on efforts to attract manufacturing companies to Delaware, help current Delaware manufacturing companies grow, and develop our manufacturing workforce.
